The Cultivate Project in South Petherton, Somerset, is a creative initiative that intertwines local food, arts, and community. Originating from the EU-funded Ruritage project, Cultivate is a dynamic partnership between the local food and arts sectors, engaging individuals, families, and groups. Operating in diverse spaces like farms, woodlands, parks, markets, and gardens, Cultivate fosters a vibrant atmosphere. The project emphasizes connecting people to their local land, sharing stories, celebrating food producers, and enhancing community engagement and learning.
Cultivate embodies regenerative food tourism by creating a platform for collaboration between local producers, artists, and the tourism ecosystem. The project generates social benefits by bringing communities together through arts and food experiences. Environmental benefits arise from promoting better health, wellbeing, and increased environmental awareness. Economic benefits manifest through support for local producers and SMEs, contributing to the local economy and attracting visitors to the region.
Cultivate’s success lies in its ability to bridge sectors that traditionally operate in silos.
