Organic certified olive farm in Luštica, Boka Bay. It is the first certified olive farm in Montenegro, with more than 15 years of experience in organic production. Farm is well equipped with a modern processing unit for olive oil production. Although it is a small farm with 6ha and 1000 olive trees, it is an example of good practice in the sense of regenerative and sustainable development. The great importance of this example of good practice is especially in the preservation of local customs and traditions of this region. There are trees on the farm that are over 300 years old, so visitors have the opportunity to hear authentic information about the former life and cultivation of olives, which was of great importance for the development of this area.
Tourist expert Dr. Ilija Moric and his family have developed a household where guests are offered homemade specialties and an opportunity to experience Lustica and Boka through tradition – from the preserved agricultural landscapes to the details of vernacular architecture, valuable collections of useful items, and authentic stories about life in the village then and now. Moric family will show to the visitors the old olive grove where it is possible to play with donkeys, modern olive mill used for organic production, as well as old traditional mill used in the last century. Also, visitors are able to taste the olive oil, along with the domestic food, served in the authentic environment of the old mill. It is also possible to organize the tour of Lustica by e-bikes and off road quads.
Teamwork is seen as a critical success factor, where the whole family is involved in the business. Constant dedication to work and improvement, both of work and oneself, played a crucial role in the development of this practice.
