Best Practices

Terramay

Portugal

(Europe)

Terramay is a farm created with the aim of promoting the importance of soil health, food awareness and the fight against desertification.

The farm environment covers a permaculture garden, with no genetically manipulated seeds and no pesticide chemicals, with practices that combat desertification and aim to revitalise eroded soils and adapt wildlife to the new climate reality. Also allows the animals to grow freely, and without antibiotics and other chemicals.

The visitors can book a farm tour and have the experience to reconnect with nature and realise that they are part of a community that takes care of the landscape, fauna and flora in a sustainable way.

Furthermore, they provide various services:
– Order organic and seasonal products;
– Eat in their restaurant (seasonal, fresh and organic ingredients)
– Organising events
– Farm visit and potential analysis
– Regenerative farm & business design
– Regenerative Consultancy
– Internships and workshops

Benefits

The Terramay project is centred around regenerative agriculture. Plantations are carried out without genetically manipulated seeds or chemical products. They promote practices to combat desertification, with the aim of revitalising soils and adapting wildlife to the new climate reality.
Also, they help other companies to become regenerative, to make the transition to a regenerative path and to create and plan regenerative business models.
All these practices contribute to enriching the soil and regenerating nature, as well as creating well-being and quality of life for the community.

Key Success

Terramay explores the land in a regenerative way and finds different profitable niches by exploring the natural resources, their knowledge and the techniques they have learnt.
They also share and profit from their knowledge of regenerative businesses and experiences through consultancy, workshops, internships and courses.
